In haar werk gaat Liisa Malkamo uit van haar observatie. Ze ziet, hoort of voelt dingen die in haar geheugen blijven hangen en die haar fantasie gaan prikkelen. |
| De synthese om tot een kunstwerk te komen kan hierdoor lang duren, meestal wordt hetzelfde thema zowel grafisch als in een schilderij uitgewerkt. Vaak maakt ze er ook collages met handgeschept papier of werkt ze installaties uit. In de samenstelling van de installaties voor internationale kunstsymposia probeert ze telkens iets van de plaatselijke cultuur uit te drukken door gebruik te maken van de lokale thema's en materialen. |
| Een ander uitdrukkingsmiddel is het " object trouvé ". |
| Haar werk wordt steeds eenvoudiger, minimalistischer, abstracter of meer conceptueel. |

My works are usually born as a result of the observation, seen, heard or felt things, which remain in my mind and begin to preoccupy the imagination. |

The development to a piece of art can be quite long. Often I realise the same theme as well paintings as graphic art, hand made paper collages or installations. |

In the international art symposiums I often make installations. I aim at express something local, using the local themes and materials |
